Calligraphy

During the long journey of Arabic calligraphy since the establishment of the first Islamic state to the present era, it had undergone many stages of development, with variations in composition, and continuously evolving in form. Modern Islamic calligraphy spans a vast range of specifics; from functional hand lettered inscriptions and designs to fine art pieces where the abstract expression of the handwritten mark may or may not supersede the legibility of the letters. There are a variety of recurring elements in Islamic calligraphy, such as the use of geometrical floral or vegetation designs.
